Exciting news from Cambridge!
After competing at the largest and most prestigious wine and spirits competition in Hong Kong and China, our Japanese Gin has been awarded the prestigious Gin of the Year Trophy for 2015, as well as bringing home the Double Gold medal for Best Value Gin – despite being the amongst the most expensive gins on the shelf in top-end stores such as Selfridges and Fortnum & Masons.
Our ‘Japanese Gin’ combines traditional Juniper with a range of native Japanese botanicals – the first commercially available gin in the world to do so – and you can buy it here.
It’s been a period of success for the distillery with Master Distiller Will Lowe being awarded a prestigious scholarship to study the Master of Wine qualification just last month. With only 312 MWs in the world, this is the pinnacle of the world of wine academia (for context, 536 people have been to space – you’re 71% more likely to become an astronaut than an MW!
Our thanks to Wines From Spain for sponsoring the scholarship, and the WSET for recognising Will’s dedication and talent within the Wine and Spirits industry. We’re sure you’ll join us in wishing Will the best of luck for his future studies.
In further news, our Japanese Gin and Anty Gin were both listed in the Spirits Business Top 50 Spirits Launches of 2014. Those of you who share our love of statistics will be pleased to note that this means 4% of the world’s best spirit launches last year came from our very own (and very small) distillery.
And if all that weren’t enough for you, Will was part of the team (Bibendum PLB) which won the highly coveted WSET Educators of the Year award! Things really are going from strength to strength.
Cheers to 2015!
